About Us
As a very little girl I was actually terrified of dogs for a
reason unknown to my parents. I remember
walking with my father once, and a large Collie came our way. I hid behind my father’s leg, grabbing his
hand tightly. My dad who always had a connection
with animals and could communicate with any dog or cat, simply said hello to
the dog, the dog sniffed his hand and licked it. At that moment I fell in love with dogs.
Growing up I was always drawn to animals and nature. I loved watching the birds, the cats, the
squirrels, the dogs, and of course I had to say hello to every dog and cat I
saw. I used to feed stray dogs and cats
and once in a while bring a stray dog home just for a few minutes… I thought it
would make the dog feel better if it had a chance to at least visit someone’s
home if only for a little while.
When I was 7 years old, my parents took in a stray puppy. I said goodbye to the piano lessons for all
wanted to do is help my mom train our pup.
We spent months training him; walking miles a day with him and he turned
out to be the most perfect dog. He was almost 11 years old when he passed away. To this day we miss him terribly.
As I grew older, I found myself helping my friends and their
parents with their puppies and showing them few techniques on how to train
their puppies and how to care for them.
After all, not all of us are born doggie or kitty owners, and at times
we need a bit of guidance.
Throughout the years, I volunteered for a Humane Society who
did not have a shelter. I started at the
cat adoption area and later, moved to the dog adoption. On weekends, I would pick up dogs (either
from foster homes or the boarding kennel they were housed in), walk them and
bring them to a Petsmart store, where
they had a chance to be introduced to potential new parents and I had the
chance to talk to many people and explain the responsibilities that come with
owning a pet. The biggest satisfaction
of course was always when the doggies or the kitties were adopted.
After a job layoff in 2008, I had decided with the encouragement of my family and friends, that it was the perfect time and opportunity
for me to establish Vicky’s
Doggie Services & Pet Sitting and it is my pride and joy. I
have years of hands on experience with dogs, cats, birds and fish, a natural
connection to animals. I have years of self education on dog behaviour &
dog training and overall doggie and Kitty care.
In January 2010 I was Pet First Aid certified.
In my spare time, I enjoy taking seminars on dog behaviour, dog training, and holistic nutrition for pets. I also read as many books as i can on the subject.
I love spending time with my human and furry family
members and our friends. My job is my passion and my passion is my job.
My main mission is:
To take care of your pets as if they were my own, and
give you a peace of mind, that your pets are in good hands and their comfort,
happiness and well being are always my main priority.
In loving memory of Griffin, who left us prematurely July 2009
